thoughts on peace

everytime i think of phil 4 - i always think of peace. Jesus was the prince of peace. and peace I’ve come to understand is not an abstract idea that constantly moves or is hard to obtain. Peace is not on top of some misty mountain top or back country, far away in isolated places. This is quiet in the literal physical sense. But peace emotionally, spiritually is in the midst of people, in the heart of suffering, of pain, in the meat of human life. Peace once we have it brings/allows us to settle down into the harshness and bear it, causes our compassion to expand, to have a closer existence with God, to see deeper, be more alive, to have a working heart. It holds fast inside us, clinging. To quote Albert Einstein, peace is in a “God who reveals himself in the harmony of all that exists”. Peace is being in harmony anywhere.
